This tool allows users to create and manage events directly within their group chats, eliminating the need for additional apps. The Meta-owned service highlighted that this event-planning tool helps prevent potential confusion often associated with coordinating activities involving multiple people.
The feature was announced on WhatsApp’s social media platforms after a period of testing with a select group of users. It is now available to all users globally on both Android and iOS.
Using the event tool is straightforward. Here’s how to create an event in a WhatsApp group:
- Open the Group Chat: Go to the group chat where you want to plan your event.
- Start Creating the Event: In the chat, find the paperclip icon next to the typing area. Tap it to see a menu of options for attaching items.
- Choose “Event”: From the menu, select “Event.” This will take you to the event creation screen.
The tool is user-friendly and integrates seamlessly with the app’s interface. Additionally, you can add call links directly to the events for virtual meetings.
