Ibrahim Mahama Crowned Business Personality of the Year 2024

Ibrahim Mahama, the celebrated founder of Engineers and Planners, has been named Business Personality of the Year following a competitive poll conducted by GhanaWeb Business.

In the week-long survey, Mahama emerged as the overwhelming favorite, securing 2,065 votes, which accounted for 80.13% of the total votes cast.

He faced stiff competition from prominent business figures, including Osei Kwame Despite, Sam Jonah, Dr. Daniel McKorley (McDan), and Madame Yang Yang. McDan placed second with 218 votes (8.46%), followed by Osei Kwame Despite with 206 votes (7.99%). Sam Jonah garnered 61 votes (2.37%).

Mahama’s Remarkable Business Legacy

Ibrahim Mahama is a distinguished Ghanaian entrepreneur and the founder of Engineers and Planners, the largest indigenously owned mining company in West Africa. Since its establishment in 1997, the company has grown to employ over 3,000 Ghanaians, playing a significant role in job creation and economic development.

Beyond mining, Mahama has diversified his investments into various sectors. In 2004, he launched Asutsuare Poultry Farms, which produces 150,000 eggs and 10,000 live broilers daily. He is also the CEO of Dzata Cement Company Limited, a fully Ghanaian-owned cement factory located in Tema.

The construction of the Dzata Cement factory began in 2011, and operations commenced in 2018. The factory, which has created 1,200 direct jobs, is poised to produce up to 2 million metric tons of cement annually.
